Tagging

Purpose:
Tagging allows discussions, libraries, and blogs to be organized and easily identified. When you click a tag on a discussion, library entry, or blog post, you'll be brought to a site-wide search repository of all of the other content that tag is applied to.

How to:
In the body of content (ie: blog article, discussion post, library entry), initiate the tagging process by clicking on the hashtag or by typing "#" and then start typing the keyword. As you type, a list of existing, suggested tags will appear. If you don't see the tag you are looking for, you can create your own new tag. You are able to add tags to your brand new post or you can reply to an existing post and add a tag in your reply.

Helpful tip: Do not use spaces when typing, as this will prevent hashtag creation. Also, if adding your own tag, press Enter to create it after spelling it out.

Posting Anonymously

Purpose:
Anonymous posting is enabled when authoring a brand new discussion post. We've created this option for you for instances where you are more comfortable protecting your identity or do not want the information shared in the post to be directly associated with your name. All anonymous posts must follow our Terms and Conditions. AOTA staff monitors any anonymous posts.

How to:
When you are creating a new discussion post, tick the box for "Post message anonymously" and post your message as normal. You can not reply to a post anonymously.

Editing Posts

Purpose:
If you posted a discussion or reply, then realize you'd like to change the content inside of that post, you can "edit" it.

How to:
Navigate to your post or reply, click the down arrow next to the "Reply" button, then click "Edit." Make your changes, then save the post.

Following Content

Purpose:
Often times, there are discussions, library resources, and blogs you want to follow along with (discussions) or save for later reference. You can do this by "following" the content inside of the opened thread, library entry, or blog. To "follow" the content, click the star next to "Follow" on the right hand side of the thread, by the subject line.

How to:
To follow a discussion, click on the star next to the subject line of the thread. If you started or reply to the thread, you will automatically be marked as "following" and will start receiving emails from the thread. To change this option, turn off your "Participation Emails" in your Email Preferences. To see a repository of all of the content you've "followed" in the past, navigate to your profile -- My Connections -- Following. To see content you've "followed" in the past, visit the "Following" section of your profile.
