Do you consider yourself a hero? Do you know that some occupational therapy clients say your profession changed their lives? Let's take a look at what clients of occupational therapy have to say about you and your profession.

You Are Heroes

Text quote "You give them the ability to make full use of this one precious life that we all haveDuring the Keynote address at the 2019 AOTA Annual Conference & Expo, keynote speaker Dr. Grace Dammann said the following about occupational therapy practitioners: “you are heroes to your clients. You give them something so, so important. You give them the ability to fully function in their life and to make full use of this one precious life we all have.” Watch the full keynote address here.

You Changed Our Lives

This mother wrote a blog post about how her daughter’s occupational therapist changed their lives. She says in the post, “I will forever be grateful for my daughter’s OT; the way she believed in her, loved her and encouraged her to move beyond her frustrations and set her up to succeed.”

Thank OT Practitioners for What They Do

Read a story by a woman who received OT for a finger injury and can now grasp a grocery bag without pain. She says in the article, “If you know someone who is an occupational therapist, if appropriate, go over and kiss them on the forehead and thank them for what they do. They can help bring your functioning back to normal or as darn close-to-normal as your injury allows.”

You Are Changing the World for the Better

During the 2014 AOTA Annual Conference & Expo, three wounded warriors shared how occupational therapy helped them return to the activities they wanted and needed to do. We loved how Tim Donley said, “you are changing the world for the better every single day.” Hear a few more of their quotes in this video.

OT Helped Us Reclaim Our Lives

Boston marathon survivors Jessica Kensky and Patrick Downes share how occupational therapy helped them reclaim their lives.

Finally, take a look at this video about a veteran who is thankful that his OT practitioners helped him discover the paralympics.
