Tomorrow is World OT Day! How will you promote occupational therapy?

The World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) celebrates World OT Day annually on October 27 to increase the visibility of the profession.

WFOT put together a few ideas on how to promote and celebrate World OT Day here.

You can also participate in a virtual exchange where you can hear from your OT colleagues presenting on a variety of topics throughout the day. It’s free and kicks off tomorrow (Saturday, October 27) at 7 a.m. eastern time.

You can celebrate World OT Day by dedicating it to service. Service can be mentoring, tutoring, cleaning up your neighborhood, helping with playground repairs, or volunteering. Get more ideas for service on the Global Day of Service website.

Social media is always a great tool for getting the word out about occupational therapy.

WFOT has several social media images that you can download and share. Get those here (select World OT Day in the dropdown).

We find that when you tell stories about how occupational therapy helped your clients it helps people better understand the distinct value of OT. Check out this What OT Can Do video and share it on social media tomorrow!

October is OT Month for our Canadian colleagues and throughout the month they’ve been participating in a 31 day challenge to talk to one person each day about the profession. Talk to someone tomorrow and then tweet about your conversation using the #31dayOTchallenge hashtag!

How will you promote occupational therapy tomorrow? Tell us about it in the comments.
